On the site where later was built the West Elementary School and then the 5th District Courthouse.
HISTORY
This house belonged to Burr & Martha Canfield. Seven of their eight children were born in this house. The house was so small that all the boys slept outside all year round.When the Canfields moved on, their home was torn down and the lot was used for the new West Elementary School. Later, that was torn down and the 5th District Courthouse was built on the site.
BIOGRAPHY
Burr & Martha Canfield had eight children: Kelma, Tarma, Leo, Jack, Lewis, Robert, Darrel, and Douglas. The kids attended the Woodward School.PHOTOS
